Dish: Lat Tong, Fa Tiu Claypot Chicken, Steamed Tofu, Vegetable
Price: RM135 (for 7 adults including rice and tea)
Last Saturday's dinner place is one of those places that you must absolutely try at least once. The reason being that its signature dish i.e. ''Lat Tong'' which literally translates as Spicy Soup or Sup Pedas in Malay, is really tasty. The restaurant is located in the old-village part of Serdang, and apparently it maybe the only few around!
We wanted to have something special for dinner, especially when we invited my parents, brother, sister and brother-in-law along. This time we went early, having reach there by 7pm just before the dinner crowd started. Previously, we came around 7.30pm and had to wait more than half and hour for the dishes to be served. Since we were early the dishes came swiftly, one after the other :-)
''Lat Tong'' is a dish of chicken and pork (parts) cooked in a ginger and pepperish-based soup which give it the 'spicy' taste. "Fa Tiu'' claypot chicken is another one of their signature dish which was quite yummy too. The chicken meat is very tender and juicy. Apparently, the chicken used is 'kampung chicken' i.e. chicken that is not commercially-bred thus healthier :-) We also ordered steamed "Tofu", a dish which I always enjoy, and ''Yew Mak" for vegetable.
We finished everything to the very last bit (and we actually ordered extra serving of the Lat Tong, and the soup tasted better in the second serving!).
Though the place maybe a bit run-down, I will still recommend this place if one has not try it. So, on one of those weekends when you feel adventurous, drive over to this place and you will not be disappointed. If you ever get lost, just stop and ask - every person in Serdang will be able to show you the place :-).. Hopefully the next time, my sister-in-law can join us too! :-)
