Dad loves Chinese food, and nothing satisfies him more than a real authentic Chinese cooking. This narrows down our choice of dining places to take him to for his Belated Father's Day celebration. In the end, I decided on The Ming Room in Bangsar. Reason for choosing was simple- This place has a nice ambience, and the food never fails to satisfy ones palate.

We ordered some special dishes e.g. the Charcoal Grilled Porb Ribs Spanish Style, Braised Imperial Bean Curd with Spinach, and Roast Chicken with Spicy Minced Garlic. All the dishes tasted really good, including the Stir-fried vegetable with Asparagus. I especially liked the Charcoal Grilled Porb Ribs Spanish Style as the meat was so tender and juicy (just perfect!) and it would have blended really well with a glass of red wine (haha), but as my dad was no drinker, we had Chinese Tea instead (which paired just as good) :-)

We finished the meal with some nice refreshing desserts (see below)..Everyone enjoyed the food, especially dad, so what more can I say? Nice food, nice place, good service! You should give it a try :-) Bon Appetite!

Light Lunch @ Restoran Puchong Yong Tau Fu, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia [Dish: Fish Balls, Tofu, Lady's Finger, Fried Fu Chuk, Spring Roll, Dumpling, Chee Cheong Fun]

Date: 2 June 2012
Place: Restoran Puchong Yong Tau Fu, Taman Bukit Serdang, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia
Dish: Fish Balls, "Tofu", Fried "Fu Chuk", Fried Spring Roll, Fried Dumpling, "Chee Cheong Fun"
Price: RM11.80

When lunch came, I was not very hungry as breakfast was late (which is always the case for me on a weekend!). Nevertheless, I was craving for Fish Balls- really nice and big fish balls, and that was how we ended up at this “Yong Tau Foo” place at Seri Kembangan, a place which I frequently go to whenever I am in Seri Kembangan and wanting to eat “Yong Tau Foo”.

The fish balls were very fresh and tasty and I had quite a big share of it :-) Very happy that I got my cravings satisfied :-) My other favourite is the “Tofu” stuffed with fish paste - just love it! Other offerings that we ordered were the fried “Fu Chuk” (fried bean curd), fried Spring Roll, and fried Dumpling, all of which was delicious too, though I personally prefer the non-fried varieties.

“Yong Tau Foo” is a dish that originated from the Hakkas. It consists of a wide variety of food stuffed with fish or pork paste. Apparently, the original “Yong Tau Foo” is the “Tofu” that is stuffed with fish or pork paste (which happens to be my all-time favourite), and since then it was improvised to include the lady's finger, brinjal, chili, bitter gourd, and lots more! You can savour it as it is, or have it dipped in sweet bean sauce and/or chilli sauce. You can have your “Yong Tau Foo” with rice, or any noodle of your choice. As I was not very hungry, I had my “Yong Tau Foo” with “Chee Cheong Fun” (rice noodle). Yum Yum! :-)

'Home-Cooked' Lunch [Dish: Tofu with minced pork meat, vegetable ('tin chat' in cantonese), steamed minced pork meat, fried mushroom] @ Kar Hiong, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

Date: 3 June 2012
Place: Restoran Kar Hiong, Subang Jaya, Selangor,Malaysia
Dish: Tofu with minced pork meat, vegetable ('tin chat' in cantonese), steamed minced pork meat, fried mushroom
Price: RM46.30 (include 4 bowls of rice and Jasmine tea)

One of our friend and her husband was in Subang Jaya, and we decided to take them to a restaurant in Subang Jaya serving authentic Chinese food that taste almost like home-cooked, and is a favourite among Subang Jaya families. Both my friend and her husband are Filipinos, hence this place would be the perfect place for them to sample nice 'home-cooked' Chinese food :-)

We did not wait long for our food, and all the dishes came shortly one after another. We loved the food (as always!), and so did our friends. Some of the dishes tasted just like how my mom would make them e.g. the steamed minced pork meat (see below) and the vegetable 'tin chat' (in cantonese). I am not sure what 'tin chat' is in English (if you know, pls let me know, and I will update accordingly!).

Yes, this restaurant is highly recommended! If you are new in Subang Jaya or happen to be around here, do drop by. But word of caution: If you are here during the peak hours (for lunch and dinner), you must have a little patience as you might just have to wait quite a while to be sitted ;-)
